The Lux Lox Residency · Temecula, California
Your license is
just the beginning.
36-week salon training for newly licensed cosmetologists, with Asia T. Start approved services before completion when your business is ready.
Selective admission · $0 tuition
Next cohort: January 2027. Selected Residents notified in December. Tuition funded by Lux Lox; personal tools and supplies are separate.
Asia brings over a decade of hairstyling in the Temecula Valley and experience mentoring cosmetologists through Lux Lox’s training program.
01 / Your path beyond beauty school
Proof of Service.
Confidence you
can point to.
Beauty school gives you the foundation. Practice and mentor feedback help you turn it into consistent, thoughtful service.
Progress depends on demonstrated proficiency and mentor approval for each service. Approval for one service does not automatically cover another. Further practice may be needed.
You can begin serving guests
before week 36.
Once a service is approved and your business setup is ready, you can welcome paying guests while continuing your education. Space at Lux Lox is subject to availability.

Approved before week 36?
Keep learning your other services.
How is service readiness decided?
Your mentor assesses whether you can deliver the specific service safely and consistently. Attendance alone does not establish proficiency. You receive the service expectations and feedback during training, with further practice where needed.
Proof of Service is an internal readiness review, not an outside certification. Approval does not guarantee a date for starting paid services.
02 / Put the learning into practice
Your week has
a purpose.
Develop consultation, color, blonding, cutting, styling, and timing through preparation, hands-on practice, and specific feedback.
- Between sessions
Learn & practice
Make time for independent preparation, practice, and model recruitment.
- Sunday
Mentor review
Bring your questions and receive guidance on your progress.
- Tuesday
Studio education
Develop your skills through hands-on learning with educator support.
Plan around 15–18 hours a week across practice, preparation, mentor review, and studio. Complex model weeks may take longer. Confirm exact session times before accepting your place.
What should I expect from model practice?
You help recruit suitable models. Foundation work may use mannequins or consultations before full model services. The program provides professional product education and guided practice; detailed lessons and practice materials are shared with enrolled Residents.
03 / Your work. Your name. Your clientele.
Build a practice
with your name on it.
With Asia’s guidance, connect your technical work to a portfolio, a clear offer, and a guest experience worth returning for.
Develop your identity.
Build a portfolio and confidence presenting your work professionally, with permission for model photos. Your early Lux Lox Resident profile supports training-model recruitment.
Prepare your practice.
Receive guidance on your service offer, pricing, and booking as you prepare for independent business. You set your own prices and manage your separate business.
Grow client relationships.
Develop guest communication and retention skills. Building a clientele takes your own outreach and follow-through; clients and bookings are not guaranteed.
04 / Cost & commitment
A place to develop.
A commitment to practice.
For newly licensed cosmetologists with strong foundations, careful judgment, and the intention to build an independent practice at Lux Lox.
Selected Residents / Funded by Lux Lox
$0 tuition
No application fee. No seat deposit.
No tuition repayment if you leave.
Your commitment is the work.
Lux Lox invests in selected Residents through 36 teaching weeks and a final readiness review. Bring a current California cosmetology license, reliable preparation, and a willingness to act on feedback.
- Your equipment: bring your tools and mannequin. You receive the supply list before accepting a place; no kit purchase from Lux Lox is required.
- Instructional models: any product charge is explained to the model before booking.
- Your future business: licensing, insurance, products, and space have separate costs. You choose whether to rent at Lux Lox; education does not require a future lease.
Enrollment does not guarantee employment, rental space, clientele, income, or completion. Progress depends on demonstrated skills and participation.
05 / How places are awarded
Show how you learn.
Show where you want to go.
Admission is selective. We look for sound foundations, thoughtful decisions, follow-through, and the ability to apply feedback.
Complete your application.
Share your training, availability, and practice goals. Answer three short readiness questions on your own schedule, using the instructions provided. Notes and a calculator are welcome.
Support your experience.
Name two instructor or professional references who have observed your work. They submit a brief reference form directly. Relevant cosmetology records are optional; school grades alone do not decide admission.
Meet us on a Tuesday.
We interview qualified candidates every Tuesday. Discuss your goals, participation plan, and the Lux Lox pathway. An interview does not reserve a place.

06 / Before you apply
Good questions.
Clear expectations.
Is this beauty school or a licensing program?
This is development after beauty school; it does not award a state license. Still in school or awaiting licensure? You can inquire about a future start.
Is this a paid position?
The Residency is an education program, not an offer of paid employment. Any salon job has a separate hiring and pay arrangement. Residents are not required to cover salon staffing shifts in exchange for the education.
What needs to be in place before paid services?
Mentor approval for the specific service, a current professional license, business license, insurance, your own pricing, booking and payments, and a separate space agreement. Space at Lux Lox is subject to availability.
Your early profile recruits training models; commercial booking follows this separate setup.
Can I join without a clientele or keep another job?
Yes. You will need to recruit models and make room for the weekly commitment, including Sunday review and Tuesday studio. An established portfolio is not required.
Why does Lux Lox fund the tuition?
We are investing in selected professionals who want to build a practice at Lux Lox. Your goals and readiness matter in selection. Education does not obligate you to sign a future lease or repay tuition if your plans change.
Please give prompt notice if you withdraw so we can plan the group’s sessions.
What happens after week 36?
The funded program ends with a readiness review and a written next-step plan: approved services, remaining skill gaps, and practice priorities. Attendance alone does not establish proficiency.
Ongoing classes or one-to-one coaching are not automatically included. Any additional support has separately agreed scope and terms before it begins. Your rental agreement, if any, remains separate.
When will the next cohort begin?
The next cohort begins in January 2027. We interview qualified candidates every Tuesday and notify selected Residents in December 2026.
Your exact start day, studio times, and weekly commitment are confirmed before you accept a place. Interviews continue throughout the year; a Tuesday interview does not guarantee a place in the January cohort.
