Terms of service.
Effective Date: January 1st, 2025
1) Introduction
Welcome to Lux Lox Salon (“Lux Lox,” “we,” “our,” “us”). These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your use of www.luxloxsalon.com and subdomains (the “Site”) and any services you book or purchase from us or from independent beauty professionals operating at our location (collectively, the “Services”). By accessing the Site or using the Services, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Site or Services.
2) Who We Are; Independent Beauty Professionals
Lux Lox operates a salon space and online platform where independent, licensed professionals (“Independent Professionals”) offer services. Unless we expressly say otherwise in writing, services are provided by Independent Professionals who set their own prices, schedules, and methods of work and are not Lux Lox employees. Each Independent Professional is solely responsible for their services, advice, and outcomes.
3) Eligibility & Accurate Information
You must be able to form a binding contract to use the Services. You agree to provide accurate, complete information when booking and to update it as needed.
4) Booking, Deposits, Cancellations, Late & No-Show
- How to Book. Appointments may be booked through our Site or third-party platforms (e.g., Square, GlossGenius, Acuity Scheduling).
- Card on File & Deposits. A card on file and/or non-refundable deposit may be required, especially for multi-hour, color, or extension services. Deposits apply to your service if you arrive on time.
- Cancellation Window. Cancel/reschedule ≥24 hours before your start time.
- Late Cancellation Fee. Cancelling/rescheduling within 24 hours may forfeit your deposit and/or incur a late-cancel fee (up to the amount shown at booking).
- No-Show Fee. Missing an appointment without notice may incur up to 100% of the scheduled service price.
- Late Arrival. If you arrive late, your service may be shortened or rescheduled; fees may apply per the Independent Professional’s posted policy.
- Service Scope Changes. If you request additional work at the appointment, you authorize reasonable price/time adjustments shown by the Independent Professional.
5) Honest Pricing, Payments & Chargebacks
- Honest Pricing. We disclose the total price you must pay for a service inclusive of mandatory fees (taxes and voluntary gratuities are separate).
- Pricing. Prices may vary by Independent Professional and may change without notice; the price confirmed at booking is honored.
- Payment Methods. We accept major cards and other methods supported by our processors (e.g., Square, GlossGenius, Acuity).
- Authorization. You authorize charges to your card on file for deposits, services rendered, retail, gratuity (optional), and any late/no-show fees consistent with these Terms and the policies shown at booking.
- All Sales Final. Because services are personal and time-based, all sales are final (see Section 6 for adjustments).
- Chargebacks. If you dispute a legitimate charge contrary to these Terms and posted policies, you remain responsible for the amount and our reasonable costs to resolve the dispute.
6) Satisfaction, Adjustments (“Redo”) & Results
If you have a service concern, notify the Independent Professional (or contact@luxloxsalon.com) within 48 hours. At our or the Independent Professional’s discretion, a complimentary adjustment may be offered within 7 days to address reasonable goals discussed during consultation. Adjustments do not include new looks or services. Results vary based on hair history, home care, and maintenance. Refunds are not provided after services are rendered.
7) Retail Products & Custom/Extension Hair
- Retail Returns. Unopened, unused retail products may be exchanged or returned for store credit within 14 days with receipt. Used/opened products and tools are final sale unless defective.
- Custom/Extension Hair. Any hair ordered or prepared specifically for you (including color-matched bundles, wefts, I-Tips, K-Tips, tape-ins) is final sale once purchased/ordered and non-refundable, regardless of appointment changes.
8) Health, Safety, Minors & Right to Refuse Service
- Disclosures & Patch/Strand Tests. Tell your professional about allergies, sensitivities, medical conditions, recent procedures/medications. Patch/strand tests may be recommended; declining is at your own risk.
- Illness. If you’re sick/contagious, please reschedule.
- Minors. Some services require a parent/guardian to be present and provide written consent for guests under 18; age restrictions vary by service and professional.
- Right to Refuse. We and Independent Professionals may decline or discontinue a service for safety, contraindications, abuse/harassment, or policy violations (never for unlawful discriminatory reasons).
9) Residents & Model Appointments (Education Services)
From time to time, Lux Lox hosts an Artists’ Residency where licensed cosmetologists (“Residents”) provide training/portfolio services to models under educator guidance. If you book a Resident/model appointment:
- Timing & Scope. Sessions may be limited to specific dates/times, take longer than standard services, and are guided by instructional goals; exact outcomes are not guaranteed.
- Photos/Video & Feedback. You consent to educational/portfolio photography and brief feedback surveys.
- Communication & Accommodations. For safety and educational purposes, effective real-time communication with the Resident/educator is required. If you need disability-related accommodations or language assistance, email contact@luxloxsalon.com before booking so we can advise what is reasonably available.
- Additional Terms. Program-specific rules posted at booking also apply.
10) Personal Property; Garments
We provide capes/smocks upon request; please wear appropriate clothing for chemical/color services. Lux Lox and Independent Professionals are not responsible for loss, theft, or damage to personal items you bring to the salon (including clothing, devices, jewelry, bags).
11) Photos, Video, Reviews & User Content
If you share reviews, testimonials, photos, or other content with us or on our channels, you grant Lux Lox a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to use, reproduce, display, adapt for formatting, and distribute such content for marketing and educational purposes, consistent with law and platform policies. You may request removal by emailing contact@luxloxsalon.com (we’ll accommodate when feasible).
12) Communications, E-Sign & SMS
By booking or contacting us, you consent to receive transactional emails/texts (confirmations, reminders, updates). Message/data rates may apply. You may opt out of marketing texts at any time by replying STOP; you’ll still receive essential transactional messages about active appointments. You consent to the use of electronic records and signatures for forms, consents, and acknowledgments related to the Services.
13) Use of the Site
We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to access the Site for personal, non-commercial use. You agree not to: (a) interfere with Site security/operations; (b) scrape/crawl without written permission; (c) attempt unauthorized access; or (d) use the Site for unlawful purposes.
14) Intellectual Property
The Site and its content (design, text, graphics, logos, images, video, software) are owned by Lux Lox or our licensors and protected by law. Our names, logos, and trade dress may not be used without prior written consent. You may not copy, modify, distribute, or create derivative works without permission.
15) Third-Party Services
We use third-party platforms for booking and payments. Their terms and privacy policies apply in addition to ours (e.g., Square, GlossGenius, Acuity). We do not control and are not responsible for third-party sites/services.
16) Gift Cards (California Notice)
Gift cards are non-refundable and redeemable for services/retail at Lux Lox (unless required by law). Gift cards do not expire and have no service fees. In California, remaining balances under $10 are redeemable for cash upon request.
17) Accessibility, Non-Discrimination & Service Animals
We aim to make our Site and salon experience accessible and free from discrimination. Service animals (dogs, and in limited cases miniature horses) trained to perform tasks for a person with a disability are welcome. Staff may ask only two questions when the service animal’s role is not obvious: (1) is the animal required because of a disability, and (2) what task it is trained to perform. A service animal must be under the handler’s control; if out of control or not house-broken, it may be excluded and we will offer services without the animal. Emotional-support animals are not service animals under the ADA.
18) Children’s Online Privacy
The Site is not directed to children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information via the Site, please contact us to request deletion. Parents/guardians should book for minors and provide any required consents.
19) Disclaimer of Warranties
TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, THE SITE AND SERVICES ARE PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE.” LUX LOX AND THE INDEPENDENT PROFESSIONALS DISCLAIM ALL WARRANTIES, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. YOUR USE IS AT YOUR OWN RISK.
20) Limitation of Liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, LUX LOX (AND OUR OWNERS, OFFICERS, EMPLOYEES, AGENTS) SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, EXEMPLARY, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS, REVENUE, DATA, OR GOODWILL, ARISING FROM OR RELATED TO THE SITE OR SERVICES. IN ALL EVENTS, OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR CLAIMS RELATING TO A SPECIFIC SERVICE SHALL NOT EXCEED THE AMOUNT YOU PAID FOR THAT SERVICE.
21) Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Lux Lox, our owners, employees, and agents from claims, damages, liabilities, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys’ fees) arising out of your use of the Site or Services, your breach of these Terms, or your violation of law or third-party rights.
22) Dispute Resolution; Governing Law & Venue
Before filing a claim, the parties agree to attempt good-faith resolution, including a 30-day informal resolution period after written notice. Either party may seek relief in small-claims court if eligible. These Terms are governed by California law (conflict rules excluded). Exclusive venue lies in state or federal courts in Riverside County, California, and you consent to personal jurisdiction there.
Prefer arbitration + class-action waiver? Ask counsel; we can provide compliant California language.
23) Force Majeure
We and Independent Professionals are not liable for delays or failures to perform due to events beyond reasonable control (e.g., power outages, utility failures, severe weather, emergencies/illness, supply shortages, strikes, acts of God).
24) DMCA & IP Complaints
If you believe content on the Site infringes your copyright, send a takedown notice to:
